Hi Everyone,
We just had our 1st Webinars this Monday and Tuesday, explaining the Ground-Breaking Vivos treatment. If you missed them, please call our office and we can get you a videotape. It is hard for me to put into words how excited our entire team is about being able to offer this revolutionary solution to Snoring & Sleep Apnea. There are 2 things I want you to be aware of:
|
|
1. No more CPAP or Dental Appliances: Both the CPAP and the Appliances we treat you with at Snore Experts are things you have to do for life. Meaning you have to wear them every night or you suffer the consequences. They treat the problem when you wear them but they don’t fix the problem. As you know, the problem is your tongue is too big for your mouth. So, it goes backwards, blocking your airway causing Snoring & Sleep Apnea. It keeps your brain from getting the vital Oxygen it needs.
|
|
The Vivos treatment is a type of orthodontic treatment lasting 18 – 24 months and in a pain-free way, expands your jaws to make room for your tongue. The result - - In a recent study, 25% of the participants at the end of treatment no longer needed to wear anything. Not a CPAP or a Dental Appliance. This is truly a next generation treatment
|
|
2. Kids: We have already discussed the fact that both Snoring & Sleep Apnea is about a Big Tongue in a Mouth that is too small. This happens between the ages of 2 and 12. The question always was “What if we could fix the kids? Make sure their mouth grew large enough to fit the tongue?” Well, now we can finally do this! Yes, by treating the kids, they should never Snore or have Sleep Apnea.

You are probably well aware of the massive increase in ADHD with our kids over previous generations. A number of studies are all pointing to the fact that many of these kids have airway issues. Meaning they are not getting Oxygen when they sleep. You can tell when you see them breathing through their mouth. By the way, “Mouth Breathing” is NOT normal. Nose Breathing IS. If you see a kid, or an adult, breathing through their mouth, their jaws are too small for their tongue and they are struggling to get Oxygen to their brain. At sleep, they struggle big time. With this new Vivos treatment, we can treat these kids to give them the proper jaw size they were supposed to have. Aside from feeling so much better, they will look better as well.
To find out more, call our office today and we can schedule a time to come in and discuss these treatments in more detail. If you have Children and/or Grandchildren who have allergies, ADHD, are Bed-wetting, Snoring, tired during the day, having behavioral issues and/or mouth-breathing get them in to see us. There is finally help.
To open airways, great sleep and optimal health for everyone.
Best - - Dr. Greenburg

Whether it's to avoid partners who steal the covers and toss and turn all night, or those who consistently rattle the room with loud snoring, many Americans are opting for a "sleep divorce" to help improve their nightly sleep. According to a recent American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) survey, more than one-third of people say they occasionally or consistently sleep in another room to accommodate a bed partner. Men are most likely to hit the sofa or guest room, with almost half of males (45%) reporting they occasionally or consistently sleep in another room, compared with just one-fourth (25%) of women.

A new study has uncovered the mechanism by which the brain waves produced during deep sleep can predict blood glucose control. The discovery not only highlights the importance of sleep in managing diabetes but it also offers a novel way of mapping and predicting the disease.
|
|
After a cool, rainy start to summer, the hot, humid weather has arrived, making it difficult for many people to sleep at night. The heat can cause body temperature to fall more slowly than in cooler months, while more exposure to sunlight can upset circadian rhythms.

Some of my favorite things to do are to sleep and play video games, so when I heard about Select Button's new app Pokemon Sleep, I was immediately intrigued. Like Pokemon Go, Sleep will be free-to-play on mobile devices, but whereas Go was played while walking, your primary means of interaction here is done by sleeping. Rather than battling other Pokemon or trying to be the best trainer, Pokemon Sleep focuses on collecting as many Pokemon as possible by, as the name suggests, getting a healthy amount of sleep.

Q: Why does my back hurt after I sleep? (Darren B.)
A: Darren!, if you notice back pain every morning, your sleeping posture could be the culprit. Poor sleeping positions can put pressure on your spine, causing its natural curve to flatten.
This can also cause back strain and uncomfortable pressure on your joints. If you frequently sleep on your stomach, you may experience back pain more regularly.
Consider changing your sleeping position for better sleep and spine health. Doctors recommend sleeping on your side or on your back with a pillow beneath your knees. If sleeping on your stomach is the only comfortable position for you, place a pillow under your pelvis or lower abdomen for support. This helps to take pressure off of your back.
Also a thought- Your mattress may be the culprit. Over time a mattress can sink, and then it's time for a new one.

Q: Why does OSA make me stop breathing? (Sebastian B.)
A: Sebastian, obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the muscles in the back of your throat relax too much to allow normal breathing. These muscles support structures including the back of the roof of your mouth (soft palate), the triangular piece of tissue hanging from the soft palate (uvula), the tonsils and the tongue. The tongue falling back, closing your airway is usually the major cause. It is why snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), are almost always worse when you sleep on your back. It is because gravity pushes your tongue backwards into your throat.
To make matters worse, when we get older, we lose muscle tone. Therefore, as we age, snoring and OSA get worse, not better.
OSA is extremely serious as your airway is literally blocked for 10 seconds to more than 2 minutes in some cases. You are holding your breath and your Oxygen levels drop to dangerous levels. This causes Heart Attacks, Strokes, High Blood Pressure, Weight Gain, GERD, Cancer, Alzheimer's and more.
If you or your bed partner notices one of you stopping breathing, it is important to see your Doctor right away.
